Fibreglass & Gel Coat Repairs
Restore your boat’s structural integrity and showroom shine. At TK Marine, we specialise in everything from minor cosmetic touch-ups to major structural fibreglass reconstructions.
The New Zealand marine environment is harsh, and even a small chip can lead to severe water ingress over time. With 20 years of hands-on experience, our Taupiri workshop provides precision fibreglass and gel coat repairs that leave your hull looking flawless and completely watertight.
Our Hull & Gel Coat Repair Services
We don't just patch over the problem; we grind back the damage to ensure a permanent, structural fix that blends perfectly with your existing hull. Our core services include:
-
Cosmetic Gel Coat Repairs: Fixing unsightly chips, deep scratches, and star-cracking caused by docking bumps or trailer impacts.
-
Precision Colour Matching: Custom-tinting gel coat to perfectly match your hull's exact shade, ensuring the repair area is completely invisible.
-
Structural Fibreglass Repairs: Rebuilding impact damage, fixing soft spots in the deck, and repairing stringers or rotted transoms to restore full structural strength.
-
Hull Cut, Polish & Restoration: Removing heavy oxidation, chalkiness, and water stains with a professional-grade machine cut, followed by a protective wax to seal the finish.
-
Osmosis Treatment: Identifying and treating hull blisters to prevent moisture from destroying the fibreglass laminates over time.
Why Prompt Hull Repairs Matter
It is easy to ignore a small gel coat chip, but doing so puts your vessel at risk. The gel coat is your boat's primary waterproofing layer. Once that barrier is breached, water can seep into the underlying fibreglass laminates. Over time, this causes the fibreglass to delaminate and rot (osmosis), turning a cheap cosmetic touch-up into a highly expensive structural rebuild.
If you have caught a rock or bumped the wharf, let us assess and seal the damage before it spreads.
